I have a sister-in-law who lives near Walter Reed. She says she has been to the hospital and was told by Red Cross that the soldiers do not need anything so I have sent another email to the sewing group to ask specifically for a hospital contact for verification of this project. I'll let you know what else I hear from her. I just do not see how Red Cross fits into this. Is there anyone else on this list that has any kind of contact with Walter Reed?

Yes, our ASG (NoVa Chapter) works very closely with them. They did tell us awhile ago they needed people to convert sweatpants to openings with velcro, and things like that....but this was a local project.

The American Red Cross has a formal agreement with the armed forces for assistance with certain tasks: emergency notifications, some emergency financial assistance, etc. They have a presence on many bases and hospitals. But that doesn't mean that they are knowledgeable in all areas of patient care.
