Teresa Pople.Fitted pants - no ease
Hi,
I've just looked at the fitted pants pattern and there doesn't appear to be any ease at all, my measurements are showm without a plus or minus amount.
When I look at the fit tool settings under standard fit , all of the boxes show 0.
This isnt right is it?

Dress Shopyes, its right.
Try the pant on, making sure it is made from a tight woven.

Teresa Pople.Kaaren,
I must be going nuts (no comment needed!) but I'm sure when I last made a pair of fitted pants there was some ease showing on the hip. Has this been incorporated as design ease or did I just imagine it?? (Possible!!)
Thanks, Teresa

fyfeeI just did another fitted pant to proof my measurement file. There is almost no ease...no way to sit and I have a wedgie. The waist is pulled down nearly 2 inches. Are you saying this is right? If the fitted pant is skin tight, do I have to add ease each time I print a pattern?

Dress ShopI have often spoken of how I keep a copy of my "sloper" and or "bestest" patterns on clear plastic in 1/4 scale.
Its a sort of arcival history. (I don't haul all of them back and forth betwen houses but I keep the lastest version 6 stuff around.) I can grab that clear plastic template lay it over any pant from any version and immediatly see any changes or differences.
Since D6.0 came out I can verify the pants have drafted this way. Memory serves there was no change from DS5. Ds 4 was a considerable change from version 2.5 but even it did not have torso ease.
When I state No change I mean in regards to the torso ease values of the fitted pant.
You will see a considerable change if you elect an elastic waist as the waist drafts to hip level.
The majority of the differences in fit level between style lines is in the legs.
YOU MAY elect to have additional ease at waist or NONE using the File>settings feature which is over half way down the list.
The classes that I present include how the Bodice and Pants draft, what is ease and how it is applied , what and when the reference lines do for you , whats in a name which includes the differences between silhouettes and designs and how to's on tool useage.
The classes have been presented since 1997 and the content adjusts to changes in the program.
The dress fitted pant is more than breathable.
I have a "thing" due to some surgery that my tummy dimensions change significantly during the day yet I can wear the same pants from morning thru late evening in comfort.

Dress ShopIf you have a wedgie your back crotch length is too short, and or your body depth is too short.
