I updated my laptop to DS 8.04 and have IE 8 running. When I start DS IE opens and gives a light blue background with a white vertical rectangle on the left side of the window. Nothing else happens. I uninstalled all versions of DS and put in a clean copy of DS 8.04 the same thing happens. If I had a copy of DS 8.03 I would reinstall it to see if there is a problem with 8.04 or IE8. the popup blocker is turned off in the laptop since the only time the IE browser gets used is with DS. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Updating computers is always such a pain.

I have been using IE8 for a long time. My current version is 8.0.6001.18702. But, I think any IE8 is likely to work the same. The differences between Dress Shop 8.00 through 8.04 are not relevant to browser or computer.

The more likely problem is whatever else got changed when you updated your laptop. That sometimes means a change of Windows version, security settings, display settings, security software (virus scanner, firewall, etc.) and such. Anything change in any of those areas?

Another possible problem is with the system registry. If the program failed to register properly, it will not run. The usual symptom in that case, though, is a mostly white screen with a pale violet band at the left and top side of the screen. The band is about 2" wide. You should also get a script error, but IE defaults to not displaying those. To see such errors, run IE, select Tools - Internet Options - Advanced. Under "Browsing", look for the checkbox labeled "Display a notification about every script error". Or, anything similar. Check those so you get the error messages, then rerun Dress Shop and see if you get anything more useful that we can then work from.

Good luck....
