After reading all the posts re: the DS to MPD pattern transfers, I am totally confused. I am running IE, XPPro, DS7Pro, MPDPro. Could you do a click by click for those of us who are still a little computer challenged?
Thanks as always,
Kelly

Here goes...

1. First, you must have the most recent updates for both Dress Shop and MPD. Be sure you are running Dress Shop 7.02 and MPD 1.09. If you are not, install the most recent update.

2. Run Dress Shop.

3. Be sure that some measurement set is selected, either your own or any standard set. While this is automatic if you have been using Dress Shop, we did have one customer that did not have measurements specified and it did make the export fail.

4. From the File menu, select "Export Patterns", click OK on the prompt, and wait while every pattern you own is drafted and saved in a file format that MPD can access.

5. When Dress Shop is done with the export, shut it down.

6. Run MPD. From the File menu, select "Import Pattern". The "Open File" dialog box SHOULD default to the folder where your exported Dress Shop patterns are sitting. You SHOULD see folders for "Activewear", "Blouses", "Dresses", etc. If you do see these folders, skip to step 8.

7. If MPD did not find your exported Dress Shop patterns properly, don't worry, Easy fix. Click on File - Settings. There is a box there that should display the pathname to Dress Shop. If this pathname is not correct for your copy of Dress Shop (perhaps you installed Dress Shop on another drive or in some other folder), just change the pathname there and click "Close". Now, try the File - Import Pattern function again. If you have the pathname to Dress Shop correct, then import should find your exported Dress Shop patterns properly. If that is not the case, please post what detail you can and we will advise further.

7. Ok, you see the folders. Dig into them, find the exported Dress Shop pattern you want and open it. If the pattern opens properly, it should draft with MPD rules and options and display with the Dress Shop name. You should be able to edit, save, and print it.

8. IF, however, when you opened the file, you get a message stating that "You do not own this pattern, but it will be opened to preview.", then you will not be able to save or print it. What has happened in this case is that your customer id for MPD does not match the one you have for Dress Shop. MPD can only open saved pattern files produced by the same customer. Both MPD and Livingsoft use the same customer data service, so usually, the same email address (which is used for customer identification) will be in effect for both products. IF you have two different customer accounts with different email addresses, then MPD will not realize that they are one and the same person. Hopefully you will know if this is the case. If you are not sure, run the auto-activate for each product. The email address used to activate each will be displayed. That email address MUST be the same in both products. If it is not, then you have multiple customer accounts and the import / export will not work successfully. If that is the case, please email support1@LivingsoftNW.com with both email addresses and ask that your accounts be merged. It is a royal pain to do, but there is no other way to address this problem, so we'll do what we have to do.

That's all I can think of. Hope that gets you there....

No, not really. The import function was setup to be pretty much like the Load Pattern feature. When you are ready to work on some particular pattern, you load it or you import it. It's just another way to load....

Think of Import the same as open. You access the MPD ready DS patterns from the IMPORT button. While you LOAD MPD saved patterns from the load button.

You export or prepare all the DS patterns with one click- and they all rewrite and get put in a folder MPD can access. Once they are in the folder they are all available for MPD to access.

You OPEN or IMport one pattern at a time to work on.

Thanks again. I have already transferred a couple in preparation for sewing this weekend while the house is empty.
