Back neck curve

What measurements need to be changed to impact the back neck curve?

Right now, the back neck curve is REALLY wide--like a badly graded commercial pattern that assumes larger sizes have larger necks.

I know I can fix it, but I haven't yet found the right measurements to tweak and changing the neck measurement and the back length measurement don't seem to help. Also, when I change the shoulder length measurements, the shoulder seam falls too low on my arm.

I do have a very forward head and forward rounded shoulders. But the problem seems be because I also have an extremely broad back--I'm really wide between my shoulders. If I make the back bust or the the back width measurement smaller, the neckline is better but the overall back becomes too tight.

Thanks!

Louise

Neck opening width is Across Shoulder minus 2 times Shoulder Length. So, increase Shoulder Length or decrease Across Shoulder. Probably both, from what you described.

Back neck WIDTH is across shoulder minus 2 shoulder lengths.
If the across shoulder is 14.5 and the shoulder length is 4.25 - 14.5-8.50= neck width

IF the shoulder length is working on the Front - it is probably the across shoulder back that is too wide.Decrease it.

If the front is also a bit wide check the shoulder length and icnrease it slightly.

Back neck Depth is center back length increase to lengthen, decrease to shorten.

THANK YOU! I'm getting very close now. I've posted another question, but I think this one is much more simple. Smiler
