Hi Anna, have been reading about the probable demise of IE for some time and found notes about it in the sidebar of the link below: https://www.lifehacker.com.au/...to-use-liquid-smoke/ Is the IE DS is based on hard coded into the program, or is it loosely linked, and how will DS fare if it is completely pulled in Windows 10 or whatever variant MS is cooking up in the back room???

Good question. Would love to hear too what the answer to your question is. Alexandra

Dress Shop does have major dependencies on some Internet Explorer-related functionalities, the most major being ActiveX. However, since existing versions of Windows will not change significantly, Dress Shop will continue to function on existing Windows variants: Windows 7 (!), Windows 8, XP, 10, etc. For future versions of Windows, given the vast base of Microsoft dependent products and features, Microsoft will almost certainly provide backward compatibility in future Windows versions to ensure that such products and features will continue to operate properly for some time to come. There will come a time when new Windows computers will not be compatible with Dress Shop, however distant in the future that time may be. I am in communications with Bob Clardy about this. It seems possible to re-implement the parts of Dress Shop that are dependent on current Internet Explorer. This is a major effort, and we are just beginning to make plans on how to proceed. The net is that, Dress Shop will continue to work fine on existing Windows computers, and will very likely also work on as-yet-to-come new computers with newer versions of Windows.

Thank you Ann! I love DS! As soon as the weather warms up, I will be switching from knitting to sewing. Looking forward to spring!
