A line skirt

I've worked and worked and finally got a useable pants pattern. I figured an A line skirt should be simple. The standard A line skirt with side seams, zipper in the side. After it was sewn I realized The 2 sides hang down in a point. The hem there dips down. What adjustments should be made? Or do I just try to even it up the best I can?
I have DS 6 pro with everything. I'm using 6.13 with the most recent patch.
Thanks

Straight side seams = straight hems
angled side seams = curved hems

When you prepare the pattern, overlay the side seams at the stitch line and check the hem curve! smooth as needed. That fixes the pattern!

The A line skirt has a LOT of flare.15 degrees to be exact. Depending on your fabric you may need less like maybe just 9-12 degrees.

If the fabric grain is off or it has a bit of stretch.. you may have found the "problem". If the yardage was softly woven with lots of air gaps it can handle more flare, very tightly woven it may stand out like a triangle when worn.

IF your fabric wasnt exactly on GRAIN it will behave like a bias cut and drooop and grow at the sides (or center).

Ive had fabric that was so off grain from the shop that mearly laying it out looking on grain results in serious problems.

In fact when shopping in "fabric districts" and sdiscoutn chains where content is often unknown and bargains can often be a disaster in the making I take a tiny bright flashlight with and place the light under 1 layer of the fabric near the middle and check the grain of the warp and weft thru the light. Ive left many a piece in the shop since doing that..increasingly amazed at how "off" some off shore fabrics can be!(also amazing how "threatening" this feels to some shop owners...they often come over and redirect me to "better fabric" thats often less expensive!

It "may" be the pattern but it is just as likely its the fabric.

OK never mind. I just used one of those metal curved hem measures and evened it right up. But I do have another question. How do you adjust the amount of flair on an A line skirt. I'd like to decrease it a little.

Thats pretty easy, click SKIRT and you can enter not only the flare but where the flare begins anywhere below Hip.That's called pivot point.

Flare is in degrees like wedges of pie...so on skirts 6-9-12-15 degrees are pretty "average" settings.

You are such a great help. You were right about the flair. I adjusted it to 9 and I like it so much better. I'm going to town with pants and skirts now. If I can just get the bodice to work. I have a big wrinkle in the back of my sleeve but that was many builds ago. I'm going to try the same measurements with the new builds of dress shop and see what happens.
Thanks again
