Cross posted to the MPD board as well. Well Southern Nevada is warming up and its time to drag out those summer clothes. I actually pulled out what I’ve saved from previous summers and yech- dull and boring and showing signs of wear. Of course I had made some things during the testing cycle for the spring- summer 10 collection and ordered fabrics at the time but got busy and didn’t sew them up right away. It's been a busy week in the sewing room and my summer wardrobe is almost all set except for maybe two more swim suits. I even updated my serger this week. Loving the new Janome 1100- fantastic narrow rolled hems!! Love the new length shorts made from the easy going pants pattern- in under an hour each I have 5 pair of decent shorts from the nice cool fabrics I bought back in March and April. Since every building is air conditioned I love both the quick knit jacket and spring cover up to toss on in those over chilled buildings. I’ve made up a bunch of them in various fabrications for dress up evening and every day grocery shopping. Funny thing here- hot day, warmish pool - get out and you feel like you are in the arctic with the constant winds- those jackets make the perfect cover-up to slip on till you dry off. The pleated neck blouses and dress - are my new best friend - love the dress in a knee+2 length with the tied QKJ - goes anywhere made ‘em in interlock blue and white print and just finishing a hand painted stretch silk charmeuse for the BIG evening out. I reversed the color balance on the dress and jacket- the dress has more darks less lights and the jacket is more lights, less darks but same "water color" effect. When I get them finished I promise a photo. Well back to silk painting a few scarves to tie onto straw and sinamay hats – hats are a must here in the high desert! A scarf that “goes” or contrasts the neutral colors I generally wear are the perfect accent pieces for me. Enjoy your summer – with a cool and comfortable wardrobe. patrns4u@aol.com | |||
