exporting DS patterns to MPD

Having had to reload my DS 7 and Mpd 2 due to a crashing computer I have tried to export my DS patterns. I get the dresses and in the middle of the jumpsuits I get a microsoft message telling they have encountered a problem and the program is shutting down. I have tried innumerable times with the same result. I checked from MPD side and on pressing import I have dresses and jumpsuits that is all. I have checked the archives but found nothing to help. Can anyone advise. I am running XP

I just tried doing a full export (all patterns activated), using the current Dress Shop 7.04 and everything exported without error. So, two suggestions:

1. Be sure you have the latest update. When an export occurs, every pattern gets drafted, so any flaw in any pattern will get hit.

2. Load some standard measurement set, just in case something in your chart causes a pattern flaw that is not happening in the default charts.

All I can think to suggest....

I was playing with this some more tonight and noticed a peculiar flaw in the export of the jumpsuit patterns. The name used to save the exported pattern is generated by the program as the patterns are exported. In the case of jumpsuits, several of the generated names come up the same. Various halter neck culottes (fastened halter, gather halter, scoop halter), for instance each get saved as "Halter Top Jumpsuit with Culottes". There are several of these duplicate names, only with the jumpsuits.

From a pattern usage standpoint, it probably does not matter as you can load one of those, then use the MPD neckline selection tool to select the other type of halter necklines. But, it might be that Windows does not like that many files saving to the same name, essentially at the same time. The saves may come faster than windows finishes writing the prior one to the hard drive, depending on the hard drive speed.

My system does not seem to mind it, but this might cause problems on a system with a slower drive. I don't really know. In any case, I have a fix to that naming issue and will see if we can put together an update that includes it, just in case it is relevant to what you are running into. We'll have to test the update a bit, but we'll post something as soon as it can be readied.

Thankyou for your input. I do have the latest update but noted your comment about the measurements.Because the computer crashed and I did not have dress shop measurements saved as I use MPD all the time there were no measurements in my file.I loaded a standard set and tried again. No problem at all.All patterns exported and inported satisfactorily. Either it was a blip on the night I tried, or, you must have a measurement set in the file. Good though that you tracked the repeated names for jumpsuits in your search. Thanks again
