I am trying to make a close fitted knit turtle neck shirt. The only part that is fitted is the upper body. Below the bust and in the abd there is way too much ease. Can anyone make suggestions as to how much ease I should take away in the fit tool? Is there somewhere I can look to see how much ease the patterns draft with? Thanks Janet | |||

what did you use for a stretch factor? Its nearly impossible to answer with any rreal clarity without more specifics. you do need to make an entry for example if you had 100% stretch when you checked it and the patern is designed for 60% the garment may feel quite loose.(100% is default for that shirt) Put the grid on and compare it to the basic bodice fitted which is for a woven. The knit fitted shirt is running about an inch "smaller" than the bodice total at bust in my chart. Unless you use darts you are not going to get shaping at waist and abd Other than some minimal side seam shaping. You can use the FIT tool numbers to see what numbers were called for in developing the draft ( those arent the final numbers) and increase the negative amounts as desired. If you have not yet made a sloper and KNOW what the woven bodice fits like and woven fitted shirt fits like you will be kind of stumbling around figuring this out. There are two things you must know to make this program dance. One is where you are starting and second is where you want to go. Using 1/4 scales and making comparisons is one of the fastest ways to know where you are starting...but you really need to know about how a few default fits, fit you....first.IF you find all abds on all fitteds are loose you have an option of adjusting your chart or always adjusting ease.
