Great question on what to use for brim wire. hookedonsewing@alltel.net writes: Kaaren, Do you use a specific brim wire? I googled and found some sources, but was wondering if you had ever tried piano wire? I use something called Brim wire. Its wrapped wire so it can't "rust" or degrade and leave stains on your fabric. I use sizes 19 and 22 florist wire has been suggested by some but is has a paper wrapping usually green or brown, which "bleeds" color when it is damp. yech Brim wire is available from mannys.com which doesnt have a web store but you can call them in New York or fax them a phone order.
