Hello all,

The first My Pattern Designer newsletter got released today! We tried to send this first one to everybody, just to announce its existence. If you got one, do not own MPD and do not want any more - don't worry, this will be the only one. We just wanted everyone to know it was there in case they wished to continue to receive it in the future.

My Pattern Designer owners are subscribed to the newsletter. If you do not wish more, you can shut this off by going to "Your Account" on the MPD web site and unchecking the newsletter checkbox at the bottom of that page.

If you do not own MPD, but would like to receive this newsletter in the future (the articles do often apply to custom pattern drafting in general and may be of as much benefit and interest to owners and non-owners alike), visit the MPD website, click on "Your Account", and create an account. You don't have to buy anything. The newsletter is free to anyone that wants it.

If you did not get the MPD newsletter, you should check "Your Account" to be sure your email address is current. Also check spam folders and spam filters. If that still does not resolve the problem, post to the discussion board or send email to support@MyPatternDesigner.com and we'll see what we can figure out.

Finally, to view the newsletter now, you can click here:

I did not receive the newsletter. I checked the above items and all are as they should be. I can read the newsletter online but figured I'd let you know my copy did not arrive.

Thanks,

Thanks, Linda. I'm not seeing any excuse for yours to not have gone out. But, I'll get with Craig (who actually sends out the email newsletters) and see what he can figure out.

Did not receive the newsletter.checked my account the 3 checkmarks for newsletter, receipt of offers, and notifications were unchecked. I had checked them and clicked apply a few weeks ago. The check marks have disappeared before.

Bob,

I did not receive the newsletter either. I have checked my Account and the box for the newsletter is checked. I have also checked my spam-folder, and the newsletter is not there.

I did get the offer for gold, but I have not received a newsletter for DS either for at least 6 months. However at that time I did not download my spam, so it might have ended up there, but I have no way to check.

I also did not receive the newsletter. I checked my account with both MPD and Dress Shop and I am selected to receive all newsletters and notifications. However, I also have not received anything at all from either Dress Shop or My Pattern Designer for almost a year. I have also checked both my server and my junk mail. Nothing.

When reporting if you did not get a newsletter could you please include a registered name so we can look you up and attempt to fix it.
Nicknames on the BBS list dont give an immediate knowledge of who needs help.

Rather than plug this list with reports please send to

support@MyPatternDesigner.com

in the subject box please put "newsletter"

It will make the process go much faster and more eficiently.

Thank you
Kaaren

Well, thanks to all that responded to the query, but I don't think we have learned very much. Let me summarize the results from the 1st 4 that reported:

1. Linda Wangerin expected the newsletter and did not get it. We checked her account and the checkboxes for receiving emails from Livingsoft are all unchecked. She gets no mailings. The web services guy insists that we do not uncheck those boxes for any reason. We would love everyone to want to hear from us. Linda, to check your account, go to the Livingsoft web site, click on "Your Account". Login, then click on "Change Account Details". You will see name and address and email information. Below that are checkboxes for emails to be sent to you. IF there are check marks in those boxes, emails will go to you. If there are not, they won't. This is a requirement of anti-spam rules that Internet Service Providers insist that we (and other legitimate emailers) MUST follow. We cannot send bulk email to you if you have those boxes unchecked.

2. Elsa Riedel. Email was sent. If it was not received, then it was intercepted as spam somewhere between us and her. We have no control over that. Some spam filters are set to delete emails that go to many people. So, while she may receive individual emails, she does not get bulk emails. Or, a spam filter may look at the newsletter and treat it differently than say an activation notice or problem report reply. Again, we have no way of knowing or controlling that. The individual recipient needs to figure out why their emails are not getting delivered.

3. Heidi Foley. Newsletter email was sent.

4. Virginia Green. Her email delivery boxes were unchecked. She has now changed that and the next emailing will be sent to her.

Those were the first 4 that reported and their experience really has not told us anything we can change. So, we'll send newsletters to those that we can send to, and post them for anyone else to read that cares to look. We really can't do more than that....

Where was it sent?
I do not know how to say this any clearer. The company that hosts the address that this email goes through does not have any up front spam filtering in place.....period. Everything that is sent to me hits my inbox on their server. The good, the bad and the ugly. Filtering is left entirely to me. I log on to the account and set my own filters so that when I download my email those are left behind on the server. While I can and do cause a mail to return a bounce signal back to the sender so that that they assume it is a bad address, I DO NOT delete anything, even undesiredable ones, automatically. I do it manually. That is my business address and I get many, many, many emails through it. A good many through sights just like this. I had absolutely no problem until the changeover. And this is the only site I do have problems with. Elsa

Hi Bob,

In case this helps track down the reason some of us did not receive the newsletter, I have gotten emails regarding MPD---one this past week, in fact. And the 3 boxes are checked on my account information. When I went there yesterday, they were checked, and I just double-checked....still checked. I read the newsletter at the site so no big problem that it didn't arrive, in that sense, since I saw it posted here on the list. Could affect marketing, though, if lots of folks do not receive it regularly.

Thanks,
Linda in WV
