There is a totally revamped code for pants drafts- much time, effort and research went into it. Dont expect to clone an old draft- this will be new and according to our testers ( and me--- I wear em too) they are much better and there is so much new stuff to select from.
First thing after downloading the V2.5 install and retrieveing your codes is to go to your favorite chart- print it out, change the crotch extensions and cbwd to zero so the program can recompute them for you. come to class today- we will going over the details..there is so much there is no way we can finish it in one days class. but it is a start. most of the new stuff is "deep" in the program and very automatic. Have Fun! Kaaren Kaaren patrns4u@aol.com |

The pant fit is so much better with MPD 2.5 and the pant designer tool that I am going to replace every pair of pants that I own. Since that is 44 pairs counting all four seasons, (jeans, dress, casual, but not counting shorts) I will be busy for quite a while. Fortunately I laid in a large assortment of bottom weight fabric in anticipation of the beta testing (I am one of the testers) and I can shop in my stash for quite a while. The question is what style shall I start with? Active, Casual, Career,Jeans, Work(forget that one I am retired)?

Do we have to make measurement changes, or does the program just make them better?
I have my program upgraded and readyh to go, but wondering what I'm in for. k DS Pro Fashion Designer Suite Version 6.13 Fashion Designer 1, 2; Spring & Summer Collection; Fit Tool; Princess Designer; Illusions; Ultimate Outerwear; Ultimate Pants; All pattern sets through 1044 as well as 1045 & 1046 MPD-2.5 Pro Windows XP-Pro Jeans Machine/Pant Designer IL |

We strongly suggest that you make a note of 3 key pants fit numbers (center back waist dart, crotch extension front and crotch extension back). Then, zero them out and let the program calculate new default values for these for you. The program defaults are now much, much more accurate and they do specifically work better with the design changes than old values you may have been using. That does not mean, though, that they are perfect in all cases. When you make your first pants with The Complete Pants Designer, you should consider that they do have some elements of the sloper to them. You are proving the revised fit and you may need to adjust these three values and even crotch length, inseam, floor to waist, and floor to hip values. Some of our testers changed none of those. Others did many changes. But, their job was to put these patterns through the wringer and confirm they could get the best pants possible with them, so the experience of the most finicky may have been more extreme than what an average MPD user would need. The pants you can make with this new build can and will be better than what you have been seeing. But, you may have some chart tweaks to do to complete the process. And, you may not. Just be sure to write down or print out your starting chart before you dive in. Good luck! |

There will be a newsletter discussion in the next week or so, talking about the change in the pattern draft, what to look for in terms of the improvements done as well as where to look for further improvements you can get by revising your chart. We found any number of pattern issues that could be improved by slight changes to chart values and discussing those will take some photo illustrations to make the points clear, so it cannot all be done here. We learned a lot in the past months working with this new tool and we'll share it with everyone as soon as we can... |

IF you measurements are really pretty accurate right now- allowing the program to recompute the crotch extensioins and cbwd may well be enough.
If your measurements have been hyper tweaked in the past and expecially the HIP split front to back is not true- you may have chart changes. FIrst numbers to check are around hip front back, around abd front back, floor to waist conformed front back, crotch length front back ( total- make sure they add up) and finally floor to hip and abd depths. Help. Per Kaaren I went to print my current chart, but I can't find the option. It is supposed to be under SIZE, right?
I can load measurements, but don't get any option to view or change my chart. I then went to help menu figuring I was doing something wrong and get this message instead: (this application cannot be completed because the other application is busy) I tried switch and retry to no avail. Is it me or a problem? (yes I know I can be the problem, lol) k DS Pro Fashion Designer Suite Version 6.13 Fashion Designer 1, 2; Spring & Summer Collection; Fit Tool; Princess Designer; Illusions; Ultimate Outerwear; Ultimate Pants; All pattern sets through 1044 as well as 1045 & 1046 MPD-2.5 Pro Windows XP-Pro Jeans Machine/Pant Designer IL |

This is so timely. I've been swamped, but have been really wanting some yoga and other casual pants, and the pants tool has all these styles turn-key. Love it! Both my girls need jazz pants that I just haven't had time to do, and I can't wait to try out those in mini-sizes. :-)
Looks awesome, now if I can just ditch all the school commitments, I'm all set... |

Having spent the last few weeks making a variety of pants with the new upgrade I can't say enough about how great this addition is to MPD. I can't think of a single style of pant - long or short, casual or dressy, super fitted or loose that is not included in this update. Plus the styling details are all there for you to pick and choose and the program makes all the adjustments for you. You could not begin to purchase all of the patterns offered for the price of the program. Plus the fit is SUPERB.

I feel vindicated! Lazy slug that I am, I never did get around to making pants with MPD - first I needed a work wardrobe, then I wanted to learn about knits... you all know, lots of excuses.
So now MPD has come out with what everyone thinks is a great new pants tool, just when I'm ready to do pants. Isn't life grand? Well, not quite ready, I had knee replacement about 10 days ago, and am weeks away from getting to my sewing room. But boy oh boy, when I do I have a grand new project. Great timing folks. |

It will take a bit of playing w/ this new upgrade and tool to get the full impact of how truly amazing it is. Start w/ the Classic fit. When you're happy w/ that...well look out cuz you won't be able to sew fast enough! My DD's were home for the weekend so I whipped up a Jazz and foldover Yoga for them. They are as thrilled as I am! A great fitting pant is very exciting! Luz

I have a question - if I own MPD2 with Ulitmate Pants (all the pants patterns), do I just need to update to MPD 2.5 ($69)? Or do I need to buy both parts ($138)? It would seem redundant to own all these pants twice, so I want to make sure. Thanks!
