I've just upgraded to the Pants Designer. I'm a little confused as to how the pants deisgner and the pants in the catalog relate to each other. If I select pants from the catalog and then use the designer on them, it says I don't own the pants. Does this work a little different than the swimsuit designer where I have to select a swimsuit from the catalog first? Can I do everything I need with pants by just using the Pants Designer and ignoring the catalog? Thanks, Renee

You can do much more from the Pant Designer.

The pants from catalog will draft better with the features you control through the older options menu. They will NOT modify to a PD pant. They will draft better but NOT become PD pants which are set up to use all the new code we put in with all the new features- cutaway pockets,welt pockets, new inseam pockets, various waist levels,new waistbands and so on and on.

IF you own V2.5 pro and PD you own all the Designer pants and all the features.

V2.5 Std and PD gets 5 foundation patterns and all the features which combines into well over a hunred designs.
(and we didnt fudge on the 5 foundations - we gave you really good ones!)

The number of variants you can make from the 57 foundation patterns number in the thousands. It is the Old Ultimate Pants Collections multiplied many times.

So, catalog pants, use options, fit ease/extras from the older menu.
Pant Designer Pants use the tools within the PD menu.

The Complete Pants Designer works exactly the same as the Swimsuit Designer in that both will work with any patterns in the catalog that you already own. Checking your account, I see that while you own the Unlimited Swimsuit Collection (you can use the Swimsuit Tool on all of those patterns) you do not own any pants patterns in the catalog, so the Complete Pants Designer cannot be used on the catalog pants patterns.

Do you need other pants patterns, once you have The Complete Pants Designer? Probably not any time soon. The Complete Pants Designer comes with a great assortment of pants foundation patterns and you can make plenty of variations from those. If you see something in the catalog that is not also included in the tool, then you can add catalog patterns to your own personal collection and use the Pants Designer on those as well. There will be more additions to the pants catalog menus in the future, too, and owning those will enable you to use the tool with them as well....
