I like simple-
two parts to todays upgrade The upgrade itself which contains the Pant Designer and some other "stuff" and the Pant Designer.

You can not get the Pant Designer without the current version.

So If You want to purchase the new pant tool and you have to own V2.5 to get it.

IF you own MPD2 and the Jeans Machine - all you need to purchase is the V2.5 upgrade (69.00)as we are giving away the rest of the pant tool for those that invested in the Jeans Machine early!!!

If you own MPD1 you need to upgrade to V2.5 and purchase the Pant Designer (69 x 2= 138)to get everything.

If you own MPD2 but not Jeans machine you can get the new pant code and an abbreviated version of the pant tool by upgrading to V2.5 for $69.00 or go whole hog and get everything for $138.00

The 138.00 dollar purchase qualifies for the installment plan.

Is it worth it? YES this is a true advance on the technology of software that drafts patterns. I don't "sell". I make patterns and I make clothes. I am really proud to be associated with this effort. IT is really Good Stuff.

It would really help to know what you get for the extra $69 after upgrading to v2.5 - what's in the full pant tool that is not in the abbreviated version that comes with v2.5? It's hard to make a decision on the additional $70 without knowing that info.

Is there someplace on the website where we can find details about what's in v2.5 and what's in the full pant tool?

Thanks

The upgrade will make all the current pants fit better and includes a sample of 5 styles of pants from the tool. You do not get the new waistbands, style lines, waist levels, and pockets and other goodies. Those are all in the Pant Designer.

V2.5 is also the vehicle that can bring the pant tool to your house.

There are a number of other refinements to the patterns. All listed on the pages that says tell me more. Start on the home page and click thru the links.

The Pant Designer contains all the new stuff, new code, new styles from Active wear, career wear, casual wear,JEANS, shorts and work pants. New waitlne levels, new improved waistbands,New pockets, stirrups, gussets, on and on.

Want a stretch yoga with the new fold over waist-or ski pant its in active. Want a palazzo made of silk -its in Casual, or a dorm pant, want chefs pants or painters pants- see work. How can I forget Jeans? a huge variety of them.

Want the best looking go to office and then out for dinner check out the Career tab.

Each allows fit/ease/waistlevel/waistband/pocket selection though some are obviously designed for a particular category ( who wants a vee waist jazz pant that's loose and baggy) or a spandex fit culottes.

You need V2.5 to get Pant Designer- it won't work in an earlier version- you get benefits from the upgrade that are worth the $69.00

If you had the Jeans Machine - you get a free Pants Designer... with the upgrade.

If you didnt have jeans its included free in Pants Designer.

Hope this helps

Hi,Kaaren,

I am still a little confused. I have MPD version 2.01b. I do not have the jeans tool yet.
I want the latest version of MPD and the pants tool.

1. At the website, I see 3 updates. Are these free?

2. Do I go right to update 2.05?

3. Once I have the update, does my new version show me the how to get the pants tool at $69?

4. I read a mention of $138 in one of the e-mails. Where does the extra $69 come in in my case?

There are two parts to the current release:

1. Upgrade to MPD 2.5. Cost = $69. What you get is described on the upgrade page here:
Upgrade

2. The Complete Pants Designer Tool. Cost = $69. What you get is described on the tool page here:
Complete Pants Designer

Both releases are very worth their cost. You can upgrade now and do the tool later. Or, get both now. You CANNOT, however, get the tool without upgrading. The improved pants patterns are required for the tool to work at all.

Upgrade - Absolutely.
Tool - If you want more.

The upgrade is not a free update. IT costs $69.00 which is considerably lower than the normal upgrade charge for most programs which usually run $100.00 or more. We did take today's economy into consideration when we priced this.

Any paid for Version of MPD can be upgraded for just $69.00. ( NOT including the free Demo type versions!)

The upgrade drafts better pants with your current owned pants and even gives you 5 foundation patterns with some of the new tool options along with other changes included in the update.

The Pant Designer is a separate Purchase --it also costs $69.00- all the goodies are loaded into the Designer- 57 foundation patterns which make hundreds and hundreds of pants with lots of styling elements.

The total for the two is $138.00

Can I just make sure I have this right, please. I purchased the upgrade and the pants tool. So now when I ask what do I own, it shows the jeans collection. And if I open design tools, it shows "jeans machine". Is that the same thing as the pants tool?

edited: seems to be something wrong - it shows version 2.01 still. Rather than add confusion to this topic, I'll start a new one.

No. It sounds like you may not have installed the updated software. There are 3 steps to getting new stuff:

1. Install the updated software. See MPD downloads page and be sure to get the MPD 2.5 version.

2. Purchase the upgrade.

3. Run MPD and activate it.

You cannot activate new features if you have not installed the software first.

Bob, I can't believe I did that - I forgot to download and install the upgrade. Blame it on, well, I don't know what to blame it on.

Anyway, I installed the upgrade and the pants tool seems to be there. Thank you.
