Hello, Kaaren,
I was wondering--it is possible to change the shape of the sleeve cap, when using MPDStandard or Pro? Having looked at some storebought patterns, I noticed that the front part of the sleeve went in a bit more than the MPD sleeve. Could I do something similar with MPD? The reason I ask is that, once again, I'm puzzling over the question--how to fit my slightly forward shoulders. Not sure if I'm on the right track, but any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Susan |

Sorry, right now I'm transfering files and programs to a new computer- so am unable to give a detailed response.
Your numbers will adjust the sleeve by adjusting the armhole. For a greater "indent" in the front of the sleeve you need a smaller across chest measurement than across shoulder measurement in front. To tilt the shoulder point forward you need a slightly longer back slope and possibly shorter front slope to set the shoulder poiint where you want it. This is a very delicate balancing act and very accurate measurements are required. You do NOT want a commercial pattern- dont attempt to clone one. Instead work towards a pattern that fits you. Hello, Kaaren,
Thanks for the prompt reply. Yes, I thought that might be the way to go about it--to adjust the across chest measurement. However, last time I tried that, I didn't see a big change in the sleeve cap. I'm not sure why, so I'll go back and have another look at my MPD pattern later, when I have time. As to the commercial pattern, I'm not really trying to clone it, just to understand how it's done. I'm new to patternmaking, so I study anything I have available. thanks again, Susan |

Hello, Kaaren,
I'm still very interested in this question of how to fit sleeves. I know you're busy at the moment, but, when you have time, I would love to hear more on this subject. I'm still having a bit of trouble with fitting forward shoulders, although everything else is going well. Looking forward to hearing from you, Susan |
