I have the old Doll Shop program but don't even have it loaded as I'm not certain it would work with Vista. I checked the size options on my MPD Pro and do not see "dolls" or anything like that. Would I do a chart for a "girl" and enter the measurements of the doll in order to generate patterns?
Thanks. Trying to get a jump on clothes for the new dolls for three little DGDs. Linda Wangerin |

You might be able to get a doll pattern out of MPD this way, but it is unlikely. First, when Doll Shop was done so many years ago, a lot of time was spent coming up with those 20 or so measurement charts. The numbers are finicky and a difference of a quarter inch can totally trash some patterns. At that time, there were a number of very dedicated doll clothing enthusiasts that worked together to come up with charts that worked. Then, there were the default settings for everything in the program. If you select a polo neck, which comes with a button placket that drops 6" from the neckline, you will find that on your doll, that comes down below waist level. All of these default settings need to be adjusted for doll sizes. When Doll Shop was done, that process was automated. In MPD, it would be somewhere between tedious and impossible. Not every setting and default value is available as a user enterable setting. Many are. Not all, though. You could probably find many patterns that would draft that small and you would also find many that would blow up completely when drafted with doll sized measurements. I do not know which version of Doll Shop you have, but the latest Dress Shop update does still support that product and does work on Vista systems. The difficulty with small window size that you referred to in your other posts is not a Vista issue, though, but a browser one. I'll address that separately. |

Thank you for your response. I can see that using MPD for dolls would be inefficient. I went back to the website earlier to check on Doll Shop Deluxe. I saw it was part of the Dress Shop 7 download so I went ahead and downloaded all of that. Result...my Doll Shop Deluxe is working fine. As of tonight, ALL my many Livingsoft programs are up and running! I appreciate your time. I'm assuming folks are still using Doll Shop Deluxe successfully. Though I've had it for years, I haven't had any dolls to sew for so this will be a new experience.
